PANTHER PRIDE FOOTBALL ACTIVITIES

We as a coaching staff proudly serve in the development

of the characteristics of Jesuit education. Therefore, our hope is that we assist in the total formation of each individual within the community. We strive to be positive and affirming in our care of the individual, and we propose Christ as the model. Our program encourages family involvement and provides numerous opportunities for players and their families to be part of our team. We hope to be of service to our greater community. The following are just some of the activities we provide:

SENIOR RETREAT

In June, each year our seniors’ breakaway for our Senior Retreat. This year, through the generosity of Joe & Gwen Gievett, we spent the weekend at Lake Cavanaugh for this event. It is here where we educate our seniors on the “More Than Winning” philosophy, leadership, select captains, choose our theme, share in fellowship, and make a commitment to academics and abstaining from drugs and alcohol. This retreat ultimately lays the foundation for the year and prepares our seniors for their significant role as leaders on our team and in our community.

SPRING/SUMMER FULL CONTACT CAMP

During June, we have the opportunity to reacquaint ourselves with our philosophy, to test our speed and strength, and to build the foundation of our special teams, offense, and defensive units. The primary goal of our Spring camp is to install our base offense, defense, and special teams’ concepts. Our Spring camp concludes with a four-day, Team Camp experience. We attend Gridiron of Champions at the Evergreen State College. This is an outstanding Team Camp with several very good 4A, and 3A schools coming together to compete. Our 15 days of camp, partnered with our senior retreat weekend, generate the foundation necessary to transition into our summer strength and conditioning program.

PANTHER PRIDE FOOTBALL CAMP FOR INCOMING FRESHMAN

This camp is held in June, staffed by our Freshman Football coaches, and attended by incoming 9th graders. This nine-day camp indoctrinates new players into our philosophy, and into the development of fundamental skills and the work ethic of Panther Pride Football.

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

Through the guidance of Prep’s Head Strength Coach Mike Durand, and the Prep Coaching staff, our athletes learn the importance of increasing one’s athletic ability through strength and conditioning. Throughout the summer, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, our athletes are in one of three available training sessions. Led by Coach Durand and his staff. It is here that our athletes develop the strength necessary, through a combination of Dynamic stretches, Olympic lifts, football specific auxillary movements, and speed, agility, and quickness training.

SUMMER 7 ON 7 PASSING

Our offensive and defensive skill players participate in 7 on 7 passing session four different evenings in July. The goal is to continue to improve and install offense and defensive scheme as well as compete against other teams in our area.

PANTHER PRIDE YOUTH FOOTBALL CAMP

Panther Pride Football hosts a four-day camp in July for youth campers, grades 5-8. This camp allows young athletes an opportunity to learn fundamental skills at all positions on offense and defense. Most importantly, our campers learn the “More Than Winning” philosophy, and a winning attitude. The camp is staffed by Coach Maul, Varsity Coaches, and current players.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Each summer, Coach Maul leads the elected Captains through a 10-week Leadership curriculum. It is here where our Captains learn more about themselves as leaders, grow in their areas of improvement, and develop the skills necessary to be dynamic leaders for Panther Pride Football.

FOOTBALL CLINICS

Through the support and commitment of our Athletic Department, each year the Seattle Prep coaching staff aspires to grow in philosophy, leadership, and scheme by attending various coaching clinics in our area. This past off season our staff attended the All Sports Clinic, Glazer Clinic, Nike Coach of the Year Clinic, and the University of Washington’s Coaching Clinic. It is here where we are able to reaffirm what we are teaching, improve upon it, and build a more dynamic program each year.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Panther Pride Football has partnered with 4 The Ability to serve our community. 4TA’s mission is to connect high school kids, who have medical conditions, with Varsity football programs. Ultimately, bridging the two different worlds, and providing an outstanding football experience for the person. Please be sure to give our friends at 4TA a high five or pound when you see him around.

UNITY NIGHT

As we embark upon a new year and report to Fall camp, we begin our season with a one night retreat on Preps campus. Here our Coaches, Captains, and Leadership Council, lead our team through an evening of fellowship, competition, and philosophy. We set out to begin our year as fast starters as we prepare for our journey to be strong finishers.

UNITY DINNERS

These amazing pasta dinners are prepared by Panther Pride Football families and take place in our Cafeteria the evening before each game. Through a tremendous amount of parent support these meals are made possible. This is an opportunity for parents to be involved in preparing a dinner for the team, where a selected coach and player is chosen to speak on a biblical theme of the week. This is also an opportunity for players, coaches, and family fellowship, as we continue to develop in our plan and put the final touches on our preparation..
